It is Valentine’s day; the florists are out of stock, restaurants and exotic places are full and the ever efficient god of love, cupid is having a field day with his bow and arrow making sure everyone is all loved up and doing something special for their significant other.

It is very easy to get carried away, therefore as you go about your love-in-the-air activities here are common valentine faux pas you need to avoid.

Denial

There are a lot of people that pretend not to like Valentine’s Day because every other person likes it, they are not so fond of hallmark celebrations. Just because you do not like it does not mean your partner share the same feelings with you therefore you need to try to make an effort for your partner as the years go by.

Assumption

Do not expect that your significant other should be crazy about valentine as you are because there is the school of thought that believes you do not need a day to show love as you can do it every other time and day. Do not get disappointed when that flower does not show up at your doorstep or workplace on the 14th of February.

Undue Pressure

This is especially for the single and awesome, just because it is valentine does not mean you should feel pressured to have a date so that you can feel like you are a part of the celebration. Instead of playing impatient cupid, you can spend valentine with family or close friends and have tremendous fun

Comparison

You need to remember the reason for the celebration, LOVE. You do not have to compare the gifts you receive to that of another person when you do you tarnish the day and also make the giver feel incompetent.

Trade by Barter

Valentine is not an avenue for trade by barter, you can do something for your significant other and what you get in return is not as grand as what you did. That does not mean there is no love, whatever he or she did is his or her grand way of expressing love to you.

Do not overdo it

Just because it is valentine does mean that you should overdo it with the gifts by buying heart-shaped shoes, bags, cakes, cars etc. You do not have to do all that as the receiver is quite aware that its valentine period.

Defining Factor

Do not let Valentine’s Day be a defining factor in your relationship, just because you did not have a spectacular valentine does not mean that your partner’s love for you has diminished

Spiralling Budget

Do not go all the way out and spend beyond your means, be very aware that you have a life after the 14th of February. Do not be a Valentine’s Day spendthrift

Above all, be very happy and share the love all around you whether you are single, dating, engaged or married
